Comparing fractions and ordering fractions can be a difficult concept to master! With these 40 task cards, teach your students 4 methods for comparing fractions. They'll learn to look at whether the numerators are the same, the denominators are the same, use 1/2 as a benchmark, and when those 3 strategies don't work, find a common denominator to compare. Students work through 8 task cards for each comparing strategy, then complete 8 ordering fractions task cards — all while thoughtfully choosing the best method for the fractions they are comparing, building both procedural fluency and mathematical reasoning.

These comparing and ordering fractions task cards align with 3rd and 4th grade Common Core fraction standards and make an excellent review for 5th graders.
