Use these 40 task cards to teach students four main methods for comparing and ordering fractions. The set includes 8 questions for each type of comparing method and 8 ordering fractions questions. Students are expected to identify the method of comparing they used to decide which of the fractions is largest. Comparing and ordering task cards fit the 3rd and 4th grade common core standards and is a great review for 5th graders.
4 Methods for Comparing Fractions Used:
1. The numerators are the same.
2. The denominators are the same.
3. Use fraction benchmarks: think about less than 1/2, equal to 1/2, greater than 1/2.
4. Find common denominators to compare.
